Achieve a Dark, Bronzed Glow with Extreme Hydration and Speed

Fast-Acting, Silky Smooth, and Packed with Nourishing Ingredients

I’m not sure who came up with the design of the Paint It Black bottle, or why they thought a black bottle with a human skull was what was needed to capture the essence of their tanning lotion but if you ask me, it’s a huge turn-off. It was hard for me to cash this item at the register the first time I bought it but I had only heard great things about this tanning lotion, and being the tanning guru that I am, I had to give it a try.

I decided to try it outdoors first; coincidentally I had beach plans the weekend after I bought it, so it was the perfect opportunity. I laid out in the sun, right next to the water and popped the cover of the bottle open, and out poured a beige creamy lotion with a slight fruity scent. The solution is of medium consistency and has a silky feel which makes it spread nicely unto my skin. It gave me good coverage, so I was happy about that. I tanned for about 20 minutes and was not expecting to see such dramatized results. My complexion was rich and dark all over, so much so that I immediately went in the water to wash the tanner off so that my skin would stop tanning. Even though I like looking tanned, I don’t want to get too dark that my skin color looks unnatural.

This made me extra excited to try it at the tanning salon, although I prefer tanning at the beach, it’s not always the most convenient option. Anyway, I was back on my tanning mission three weeks later, looking paler than ever by the way, and with my bottle of Millennium Tanning Paint It Black 50X in hand.  I used a level 4 bed and decided 10 minutes would do the trick. Not only did it do the trick, it actually surpassed my expectations again, I was even darker than I was when I used it at the beach. I had a nice dark bronzed color and pretty bright tan lines that stood out from across the room.

So this simply proves that the auto-darkening tan technology described in their formula is the real deal. It’s guaranteed to deliver extreme dark bronze tanning results through its silicone emulsion blend in addition to silica (phototan) and melanin.

Also, you will see that there is a pretty impressive list of ultra-moisturizing ingredients, such as aqueous infusions of caramel extract, sunflower seed extract, hemp, and carrot seed oil, Camellia oleifera, green and black tea extract, provitamin B5, and vitamins A and E as well as banana, apple, and melon fruit extracts to name a few. These are all extremely good for you and will undoubtedly procure soft and supple skin, even after one use in my experience.

I have been using Millennium Tanning Paint it Black for a little over five months now and I have never experienced any other lotion having such hydrating effects on my skin nor have my skin looked better. It even looks toned now and firmer than it was before.

It’s also somewhat waterproof and smudge-proof as well. This Millennium Tanning Paint It Black 50X lotion has a concentrated formula and silky texture; this combination provides quite a good hold on your skin. However take my advice, stay away from water during tanning. I would suggest taking a swim after you have finished tanning or if you happen the get wet before you are done then reapply the lotion. Also, don’t get dressed or put on any clothes (robes, throws, etc.) while the tanning lotion is freshly applied and prior to tanning. These undertakings will create blemishes in the coverage and ultimately cause an uneven tan to develop on your skin.

Some of you may be bummed to find out that there is no SPF defense offered with this tanning lotion. I have heard of people mixing actual sunscreen in with their tanning lotions. However, I opt not to because I feel this interferes with the original formula and compromises the tanning abilities of the tanning lotion. The good thing with this particular brand is that it’s fast-acting and will give you a pretty dark tan in no time, which simply means less time in the sun or tanning bed.  Or you can always try using lower-level beds when you visit the salon.

Also, I would like users who have sensitive skin to take heed when using this tanning lotion. I personally have not experienced any bad skin reactions, but a girlfriend whom I had recommended this product to didn’t have the most pleasurable experience. While she saw great tanning result, shortly after broke out in a rash on her face and neck. So, if you have skin problems, I suggest doing a patch test on an area of your body that is more likely to have a bad reaction before fully using this tanning lotion.

If I were, to sum up, the good, the bad, and the ugly with this tanning lotion and rate it, then I would probably give it around 4 stars. There are some areas that need improvement.

The Good: a terrific tanner that gets your skin tan in a short period of time as well as feeling silky and soft. The dual purpose of using it indoor or outdoor and overall just a well–made tanning product that goes on easy, provides good coverage and smells good.

The Bad: the lack of SPF and possible cautionary measures you may have to take before use.

The Ugly: The bottle design.

  1. The look of something turns you off? Thats ridiculous, if its a good product the packaging doesn’t matter lmao what?? The company likes it and so do many others, haven’t you heard of “don’t judge a book by its cover” ? smh girl smh

    • wtf lol? isn’t it a little insulting that it’s “paint if black”? logo or not the company could’ve used numerous different names, logos, bottle colors etc. At first glance, that’s important. what draws your eyes to something from the shelf. don’t judge a book by its cover? idiots, oh my.

  2. Does it tan your skin because it has bronzing lotion like a fake tan that will wash off or does it actually help to tan your skin

  3. I completely understand why the packaging would turn you off, I really want to purchase this product but “paint it black” doesn’t really sit right with me. Seems like a product that would attract ‘culture vultures’ (judging by the name alone). You know, white girls who try to act/look black yet are disrespectful of their culture & still receive the privileges of actually being white. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but I just agree that the name is off putting & may offend others. Wish it would change!!

    • I think the name is based off of The Rolling Stones song “Paint it Black” and doesn’t mean to be offensive, at least that’s what I’ve heard

      • Ahhh I just said the same thing to the other girl and I didn’t realize that it was dead before.

Yes, it’s an amazing song & it was written at least 50-60 years ago not that I don’t understand where you’re coming from because I do see why somebody might be insulted but it’s definitely based off the Rolling Stone “painted black” the whole vibe and aesthetic of it definitely reminds me of that song personally though.
