There is a lot of buzz about the La Playa Glow Self Tanning Mousse by Miami Gorgeous. The reviews I read were mostly positive, so there was no doubt I had to give it a try. I decided to order one online because it wasn’t the easiest to find and I honestly just didn’t have the time to shop around.
At first glance, I was impressed with the look of the bottle. It’s a simple, white pump dispenser bottle with a plastic cover, but the label is what’s really striking, with a gold reflective wrapper, boasting the brand logo, product name and a few ingredients below. The size makes it easy to handle for the purpose of applying the product; it grips comfortably and allows you to pump the solution out with one hand while the other hand applies it. This is especially convenient for me since I have pretty small hands.
The bottle holds 4.2 ounces of fluid that comes out in the form of a mousse. The texture of which is light and foamy, definitely not too heavy. It feels smooth as it spreads on my skin and gives very good coverage – one pump covers my entire arm. Bare in mind I am quite small in body size and I don’t use a lot of product. Which is another thing to note, when I tried this self-tanner for the first time, I wasn’t sure if it would match my complexion to give me a natural look, so I applied it sparingly. To my surprise, the color turned out really great plus giving me even coverage all over all. I didn’t experience any streaking or blotchy looking skin in the aftermath. I have tried using a tanning mitten with this self-tanner as well as just my hands and I found that I had a better application experience and results with using my hands only. When you feel that the solution is completely absorbed into the skin, repeat the process with another pump and move as swiftly as you can to cover the other areas of your body because this lightweight, mousse formula tends to dry quickly.
Since there are tanning agents in this instant self-tanner, you will see an immediate color change. The initial shade it gives is merely a pre-color to what your skin will actually look like in the end. This pre-color is darker and lessens in intensity once you shower. Before showering, however, you will need to leave the product on your skin for about 6 to 8 hours so that it develops into a semi-permanent tan.
Upon using this tanning mousse you will notice that it leaves your skin feeling moistened and fresh. That’s because it is infused with a lot of healthy and natural ingredients with rich moisturizing properties. Namely, argan oil, coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, vitamins A, C, D and elderflower extract. These oils not only make the mousse spread nicely but they are safe to use and extremely good for your skin. When using LaPlaya Glow and any similar instant self-tanning product for that matter, please avoid staying or soaking in water for an extended period of time. This applies similarly to those who tend to work up a sweat often, whether working outdoors or going to the gym. This self-tanner is not exactly waterproof, while it will get you through a couple of showers, after a while, your tan will begin to fade away. So in a nutshell, the less water exposure the longer your tan will last.
On a final note, I would tell everyone I know to give this self-tanner a try. I know some of you may like sticking to a particular brand, so do I, but you will never experience better results if you don’t try something new. The plusses with La Playa Glow are:
